LAUDATUM

Laudatum is a Slovak instrumental studio project inspired by blues, jazz, fusion and prog rock with exclusively original authorial artwork content, founded in 2001. In 2002-2004 recorded and released 3 albums. In 2021, almost twenty years after the first album, released its fourth album.

Timeline:

In 2001 the original founders - bassist Viktor Cotiofan and guitarist Peter Lipovský - meet in a studio with the intention recording a single song that leads into their first entire album. The one and only song called Laudatum gives its name to the whole project. Cooperation with flute and sax virtuoso Jozef J. Tekel, who appears on all Laudatum albums, starts as well.

In 2002 a jazz guitarist Oskar Paldeák joins Laudatum. Subsequently, more jazz-sounding albums Laudaum 2  in 2003 and Laudatum 3 in 2004 release.

In 2006 Laudatum members form a pop group Tetris and advance in the semifinals of Coca-Cola Popstar 2006 author's competition. Their song Kitten rotates on mainstream radio stations in Slovakia and Czech Republic.

In 2021, after the death of Viktor Cotiofan, as well as twenty years after the first album, Peter Lipovský writes and records Laudatum 4 featuring several great Slovak musicians. In memory of Viktor 1980 - 2021.
